How-to Clean Grout (Homemade Grout Cleaner)
Equipment Needed:
- Rubber Gloves
- Respirator/Face Mask
- Scrubbing Brush/Old Toothbrush
- Safety Glasses
Ingredients:
- 3/4 of a cup of Baking Soda
- 1/4 of a cup of Bleach*
*Due to the fact you are going to be using bleach you might want to do this wearing some old clothes just in case you get any on them.
Step 1: First you need to make a thick paste by mixing the baking soda and bleach together in a bowl. This then needs to be applied along the dirty grout lines. Leave it to sit for 30 minutes.
Step 2: After 10-15 minutes scrub the area where the mixture is with a scrub brush. This will help work the cleaner deeper into the grout.
Step 3: After waiting another 10-15 minutes rinse the cleaner off the wall. One easy way to do this is to use a handheld showerhead, or you can simply use a damp rag to wipe it away. If you do it that way though make sure you rinse the rag out often to keep it clean with water.
Step 4: Grout sometimes turns darker when wet so you may need to wait a couple of hours until it dries to see the full effect.
