How-to Reseal a Bath

How-to Reseal a Bath

Equipment Needed:

  • Utility Knife
  • Screwdriver
  • Silcone Sealant Gun
  • Scrapper

Step 1: The first thing you need to do is to remove the old silicone. Using a utility knife create two cuts along the top and bottom edge. Be careful not to scratch your bath, then using a screwdriver wedge up the silicone, then slowly pull with your hands. Use a scraper to remove the bits still stuck to the bath and tiles.

Step 2: Fill the bath, this is important as it needs to be at it's heaviest point when you apply the new sealant. If you don't the sealant may pull away from the wall when having a bath due to the fact that the bath sinks when full.

Step 3: Now it is time to reseal the bath. Cut the top of the sealant gun to the same size as the gap your sealing. Then simply apply the sealant to the bath working around all the gaps. Make sure to take your time to make sure it gets sealed correctly.

Step 4: The final step is too smooth the sealant down. You can do this with many things like a spoon, a specific sealant smoother or even your finger. Then leave the sealant to dry and your bath should be fully resealed.
